My mother is the owner of a well know
riding centre in the Algarve, unfortunately I had to leave
home and couldn't ride again, firstly because she sold my
horse and secondly because when we have to ride horses that
do nor belong to us, it turns out quite expensive.
All this just to say that I miss horseriding a lot, outsiders
do not understand this, but it is a great feeling for all
situations! I think that horse sports haven't got anything
in common with skate boarding, tennis, swimming or athletics,
as we, the riders, even if we ride alone we are always accompanied
by our horse, who after a while will create a bond with
us and we with him. It is the best existing sport, as we,
as well as getting exercise, we are constantly communicating
with the horse for him to understand, and they do!! Whatever
situation, if the owner is sad, happy, tired, with fear,
nervous, they feel everything. It is a sport in which the
more falls you make, the more you want to ride, and as I
said, in the beginning you might not miss it, but after
a while, no outsider can ever imagine how big the longing.
The purpose of this mail is to tell everyone that don't
leave your horses standing for days, weeks or month, the
more they stand still, the more nervous they get. We have
to gain courage and show him that there is no reason to
fear humans, and I also want to add, that if anybody read
this letter, who has a horse at home who he hasn't got time
for it is always possible to find people who are willing
to train and take care of them without anything in exchange,
as for example me...!
A big hug to all of those who also love the equestrian art.

hi,
i would be very thankfull if you`d put this into the comments:
Nice to
see that you have this kind of active horsepeople in Algarve.
I`m a horsegirl from Finland and I`m going to stay in Luz on april
to may and i have some questions for you Algarvean horsepeople,
mainly from Lagos area:
How many and what kind of riding stables do you have in Lagos area?
How far from Luz? What kind of accesses from luz or lagos? Is it
possible to make hack outs to beaches? How much riding costs? And
what else :)
You can email me to pippis@welho.com
Many thanks :) |
I
think that, in Portugal, a bit more value should be given
to the horse sports!
Television only talks about experienced senior riders, but
at the Nation's Cup in Milan the
youngsters did a great performance! Is there anything anyone
can do about this?

When I was a child I used to enter shows. Horse breeding
