EXPERIENCE
I started riding at the age of 4 and competing at 10. Between the ages of
10 and 16 I entered in various competitions, with many placings and winnings.
The most important were: 1974
- Vice-champion Complete Riding Competiton (Youngsters)
1974 - Vice-champion Show jumping (Youngsters)
In 1979 I
went to Brasil as a show jumping rider where I was invited to ride young
horses for Sr. Roberto Marinho (owner of TV Globo), with various placings
in events. Returning to Portugal, I worked with different famous riders:
Sr. Luís Alvarez Cervera and Sr José Manuel Nunes Carvalho.
I did work experience with Olympic Rider François Matthi in Belgium
for a couple of month, where I learned a lot.
In 1985 I returned to Brasil to work at the Stº Amaro and
Paulista
Riding Centres
under the supervision of Olympic Rider Caio Sérgio de Carvalho.
With various placings, the most important was a 15th place in the Pan-American
Games (Latin America Championship) for Brasil. Between 1989 and 1990 I
stopped riding due to an accident.
In
1991 I returned to the "World of Horses", starting an organisation
at Quinta da Marinha where I taught various young riders who are today
International Riders. In 1993 I moved to the Algarve to dedicate myself
in buying and selling of horses, also competing in National and International
Show jumping events, in Portugal and in Spain. Of these, the following
most important results:
CSN-B
Estepona, Espanha 3rd and 1st place
CSN-A Rota de la Luna 2nd place
CSI*** Rota do Sol 2 x 1st place
In 2000 I
gave up some competing in order to start a Riding Centre in Almancil,
Algarve, giving importance to the progress of the school and my pupils.
Since the beginning and until today, our riders have been competing in
various National and Regional Show jumping events, with inumerous placings,
one of which was the Bronze Medal for the Youth Nation Cup in Libanon
in September 2002.
